Basic AC Troubleshooting Tips

Power – Does your HVAC system have power? Are all of the circuits in the “on” position?

Thermostat – Is your AC thermostat on? Does it require batteries? Have you changed your batteries lately?

Filter – Is your return air vent filter clean? Have you replaced it recently? Are you protecting your home air conditioning with a cheap filter or one with a MERV rating of 8 or higher?

Outside – Do you maintain the area around your outside condenser unit? Is the unit clean and free of debris? Does the condenser have proper air flow?

Advanced AC Troubleshooting Tips

Fan (inside) – Is the air “moving” inside the house? Do you feel air movement at the return air vent?

Fan (outside) – Is the air being forced through the coils in the condenser unit?

Coils (inside) – Are the inside coils frozen/covered in ice?
